Purpose and objectives of the interregional group
The aim of the intergroup WINE is to ensure the long-term and successful development of viticulture and the wine industry in the wine-growing regions.
This includes
- supportive internal market rules for the wine industry
- appropriate EU environmental regulations (fertilisers, organic, packaging, etc.): How can the objectives of the Green Deal be reconciled with economic growth and competitiveness?
- possible cooperation with the European Parliament's Intergroup: gaining support in the EP, including ‘observer status’
- Preparation of a CoR opinion on the wine industry and wine culture
- Possible initiation of a voluntary commitment by the wine-growing regions through a ‘declaration’: Charter for the future of wine culture in Europe
- Achieve a determination that the ‘substance alcohol’ is not equated with moderate wine consumption (cooperation with science)
- Implementation of lighthouse projects: Cooperation between wine-growing regions (best practice, sustainability, training, etc.)
- CoR-WINE deals with cross-cutting issues that are not covered by the CoR's specialised committees COTER, NAT or ECON alone
