  • Unfilled provincial government vacancies are generally first advertised internally, and then externally if no suitable candidates are available. For hospitals in the province, vacancies are usually advertised externally and published on the website www.krages.at/. Applications must be submitted via the job portal, which is available on the websites of the Province of Burgenland and Burgenländische Krankenanstalten Gesellschaft m.b.H. Municipality vacancies are filled internally, depending on the position, or if not filled internally are advertised externally. Applications can be submitted in various ways, depending on the municipality: by post or by e-mail. The vacancy notice must not be discriminatory in nature, and the minimum monthly salary payable for the advertised position must be stated.

  • Candidates are requested to send, or upload to the online portal, a full CV, a cover letter, and other documents relevant to the position regarding their suitability for the position in question. Candidates can access an online application portal on the website of the Province of Burgenland. For applications for provincial hospitals, there is an online application portal on the website of Burgenländische Krankenanstalten Gesellschaft m.b.H.

  • Applications must be submitted within the period specified in the vacancy notice as published in the provincial gazette (Landesamtsblatt), enclosing all the documents required. The relevant date is the date on which the application is received (date of receipt stamp). This period begins to run on the day following the date of publication and dispatch of the provincial gazette for Burgenland (Landesamtsblatt) containing the vacancy notice. A public vacancy notice is required for any recruitment of municipal staff on a permanent basis or for longer than seven months. The vacancy notice must provide for an application period of at least two weeks. The vacancy notice must be published from the beginning to the end of the application period by posting it on the official municipal bulletin board or in another appropriate manner.

  • There are no costs for candidates, with the exception of the documents required to accompany the application and any travel expenses.

Section 4 of the Burgenland Provincial Equal Treatment Act (Landes-Gleichbehandlungsgesetz)

    Objective Selection Act (Objektivierungsgesetz)

  • Entry into provincial civil service for temporary or permanent roles as contract staff or civil servants, as well as senior posts is governed by the Objective Selection Act (Objektivierungsgesetz). Unless otherwise provided for under provincial law, any personnel decision must be preceded by a vacancy notice and an objective selection procedure. Candidates are approved and selected for the selection procedure after the application deadline has expired based on the advertised profile. The first step for provincial or municipal employment is pre-selection, which is performed by internal and, if required, external persons (external experts, municipal association, recruitment agencies). The pre-selected candidates are then invited for interview. An objective selection process is carried out. For provincial hospitals, all interviews are conducted in conjunction with the Human Resources department of each provincial hospital. After the interviews have been carried out, the first-ranked candidate is put forward for recruitment. The Burgenland Objective Selection Act regulates the entire vacancy notification and selection process. Candidates must demonstrate the knowledge and skills required by the vacancy notice, provide information for the assessment of the objective criteria and provide relevant supporting documents in good time. They have no legal entitlement to be admitted to the provincial civil service or to fill the post advertised.

  • Candidates are included in the selection procedure if they can prove that they have the qualifications specified in the vacancy notice.

Posts that require a relationship of a particular connection with the province may only be assigned to persons with Austrian citizenship. These are, in particular, posts that involve direct or indirect participation in the performance of sovereign tasks and safeguarding of the general interests of the state. If no suitable candidates are available for such a position, the requirement for Austrian citizenship may be waived.
